The family saga of Robin Hood continues in this new musical adventure by award-winning playwright and composer Stephen Gashler. Imagine The Scarlet Pimpernel meets Les Misérables with a heavy dose of humor and sensational music inspired by Celtic Woman, River Dance, and Two Steps From Hell.

Paradigms shift as trusted kings become tyrants, heroes become villains, and “stealing from the rich and giving to the poor” no longer seems ethical. When England falls to mobs and chaos, Aspen, the free-spirited daughter of Robin Hood, must do what it takes to save England from endless civil war.

Playwright's Note

Ah, Robin Hood. What's not to idealize about a swashbuckling vigilante who outwits bad guys, fights for underdogs, gets the girl, and lives a carefree life in the forest with his buddies? But one thing always bothered me: in a mythos about freedom versus tyranny, there was something ironic about the usual ending of "the good King Richard" returning to England and setting things straight.

I knew just enough history to know that Richard was a terrible king (though, in fairness, an amazing knight), and what was to be learned from the theme of "Don't like the powers that be? With the luck of the draw, the next guy might be better"? Why not destroy the ring of power? After all, this was the era that gave us the world-changing Magna Carta.

So when my lovely wife Teresa proposed the idea of us writing a musical about Robin Hood's daughter (Teresa is usually the source of the best ideas), I thought, "Finally: a chance for a proper ending"! Spoiler alert: it's not all sunshine and rainbows.

Since then, so many people have caught the vision of this show and contributed their talents to make it something truly special. Thank you, my dear friends (way too many to list here), and thanks to you, dear audience, for taking a chance on a new show, when you could be watching the ten-thousand-eight-hundred-ninety-sixth production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC. Together we are, indeed, a merry band of outlaws.

We have always
Stood when no one else would.
That's the burden
Of the order of the Robin Hood.
